Anyone have any experience with Mecer tablets? I need a tablet to read my PDF books on while I study. So it needs to be 10" and one subject is android Apps, so it needs to be an Android tab. I am not too phased about 3G. Always have my phone with me to create a hotspot need be, for the rest of it, it will run off Wi-Fi at home.

This looks like a good deal for what I need it for. Any thoughts on the Mecer S101? http://www.takealot.com/mecer-s101-android-10-inch-tablet-w-fi/PLID32727307. Or any alternatives?

I am not a heavy user and apart from the odd simple little game here and there, I don't need to play much on it as well. So for that purpose I also don't want to spend too much.

battery life on cheap tabs always sucks.
so if you can live with that then its probably not too bad.

I suppose you get what you pay for. If it can get me through a good couple of hours of just reading then I won't be too unhappy.

According to the specs : Li-Polymer Battery (6000 mAh, 6 hours operating)

From what I can see it has a decent CPU http://www.rock-chips.com/a/en/products/RK30_Series/2013/0808/312.html

Would really be down to screen quality and battery life.
I was actually looking to buy this tab a few months ago if you not looking to do anything intense with it it should be good.

Just remember if looking to root this tablet you might have a bad time as it is a little more difficult to find anything on these generic tabs.

You also more than likely will not get any updates for that tablet either

Thanks a mil!! You make some good points. I wouldn't mind that Asus tab, maybe I must just see how I can work out my things and rather spend that little extra.

That Asus tab looks good. How does it compare to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (2 or 3)? Quality and use not specs
