I have the Coolermaster Quickfire tk and its great. It is quite compact (unlike this silly huge gaming boards) so it doesn't take up a lot of space and typing and gaming is joyous. Well worth the R800 I paid several years ago and for the first time I have not wanted to upgrade after a few months.

I like mechanical keyboards - I grew up using the classic IBM Cherry keyboard.
These days I'm mostly a Mac user, and their chiclet keyboards are quite good, but I still hanker over a mechanical cherry clicky key.
I've been looking at Massdrop ( https://www.massdrop.com/mechanical-keyboards/drops ) , and locally here in China at the Poker 3.
A decent keyboard isn't cheap though. I'd imagine pricing in .za is even worse
Keyboards, screen's and mice are the things you spend money on. You spend every day using those 3 things, so make them good.

You can get a decent mechanical here for under R800.
My Mecha TT cost me R480 and I've used it for 2 years without a hitch.
True, pricing for a decent keyboard could set you back anywhere from R2.5k and upwards. I will be looking at Electric's option as well.
It is a lot of money for a keyboard, considering the everyday keyboards can be bought at about R100, and therefore my question about them.

I'll be honest with you, I spent loads of time researching this and the extra cost for a 2.5-3k keyboard is pointless when you consider all you get is colorful leds.
The keys are still Cherry brand MX switches and the keyboard itself is very solid and well built which is why I chose it.
That and the fact that it is compact made it an easy buy for me.

From R2.5k? I see a lot of decent boards for half that price.

I have the CM Storm Quick Fire Stealth.
Love this Keyboard so much I finger it everyday.
K, now I'm sold and will be getting one myself. Let's start the fingering... working on my PC will never be the same experience again

Hehe. The ultimate keyboard is the IBM Model M with buckling spring switches. Once you've used one, anything else is spongy.

Bought a Func mech keyboard from takealot, and I think it might be the best purchase I've ever made!
They're great as long as you don't share office/home space with someone who will moan about the noise. The one I have sounds like a keyboard from the 80s and would annoy anyone within a 20m range. Fun to type on though.

I honestly think Im the only person who doesnt like mechanical keyboards.

No, you're not. I do a lot (a LOT a lot) of typing and mechanical keyboards are headache inducing after the first few thousand words. Even headphones can't block the noise out effectively without having the volume at a tiring level.
