Mechanical Keyboards - Yay or Nay?

I could never go back to a non-mechanical keyboard since getting one. So awesome for typing and gaming.

Mine is the Gigabyte Osmium with Cherry MX Brown switches.

No, you're not. I do a lot (a LOT a lot) of typing and mechanical keyboards are headache inducing after the first few thousand words. Even headphones can't block the noise out effectively without having the volume at a tiring level.

Just avoid clicky switches. Red and Brown switches are the most popular non-clicky switches. Blue is a clicky switch.

I honestly think Im the only person who doesnt like mechanical keyboards.

I actually have a thing for old laptop style keyboards, been using a Logitech UltraX for over 10yrs now, if it dies I'm gonna cry.

Some of my keys the letters are worn off and the bottom space close to where your palms rest the silver paint has been worn off. Should actually strip it and get rid of the silver paint.

Very happy with mine. As mentioned get the red or brown switches for less noise.

I like the loudness of my blue switches at home. CLACK CLACK CLACK. Makes me feel like I'm working really hard. :D

I used to have the Osmium as well, with Cherry red switches, but I switched to the Razer Blackwidow Chroma with green switches after I broke the clips on the space bar :( (it's quite a bit louder)

That's a bummer. I love my Osmium. My brother also has one, but with Red switches. Probably the same as your old one. It has blue lights instead of the white ones mine has. The only difference in the switches is that the Red feels very slightly softer. I can't feel any other difference, and that was with the keyboards side by side.

Yup. I had the exact same keyboard with the blue backlight. I'm never removing the spacebar when I clean a keyboard again. Expensive lesson learned :(
