Hi all
I'm looking for the best mechanical warranty out there. My auto gearbox looks like it might give in soon. Looking for a full cover. People are saying stay away from Motorite.
Any thoughts?

What car? The dealership who sold you the car might have some options.

Otherwise try : http://www.genric.co.za/ They cover quite a bit even on older cars.

My guess is that most warranties will have clauses to protect against exactly what you're trying to do. On health insurance this is dealt with by waiting periods and no cover for pre-existing conditions, not sure about mechanical warranties?

Motorite/Motocare

You can easily sign up, but you will have to present a full service history, and also, you will have to find a service center that will actually work with them. They are becoming increasingly difficult to find due to the hoops the service center has to jump through to get their money.

No waiting period for mechanical warranties, but you're also not 100% covered. You can also only take the car in once the component has actually failed. Your gearbox has to fail completely before they will consider the claim. Then they might replace the gearbox, but won't cover any brackets, or other little components.

If there are signs of it giving in...you aren't going to get the warranty approved.
