I know most guys like this player,Its my main player i use for video. Now I would like to take this player with me where ever i go,but there is a problem.Where would i get a portable version like this that dont rely on the pc's codecs but rely on its own codecs stored on a usbstick.I wonder if thinistall will work,i seriously doubt it:(.

Is there any other recommendations. Now i know ppl will come with vlc player:eek:.

I have seen a couple on the net thats 17mebs,but rapidshare dont agree with my SA ip address.

KM Player has all codecs built-in, or you could put the k-lite codec pack (includes MPC) on the usb stick?

Never understood why people bother with that thing...There must be some sneaky hidden benefit that I'm missing.:o

To answer the question, MPC is open-source so you can change it as needed....but it relies on the DirectShow/Codec structure contained in windows...so to achieve what you want, you'd either have to rewrite huge portions of the source from scratch or install the filters on the PC.

This idea is not going anywhere imo.:o

I also a fan of MPC, for its ease of use, minimal interface, shortcut buttons etc.
On Mac OSX I use VLC

I am interested to know if its possible to make MPC portable as well, that would be great.

Yea, VLC is fine for me for mobile use and then I use media player classic at home. What is the problem with the VLC download (9MB)?

The 17mb download is for a portable MPC hometheater edition which was @havoc rewritten code.I will try thin install tonight with a virtual pc.I hope that all registry entries and codecs will be placed on the memory stick>I know what havoc is saying in that i still will need a codec pack installed via thinstall ,and this will not work as i will have to let mpc search the codec via a registries .Aggjaa damn.

Will check the net on solutions:rolleyes::eek:

Never heard of Thinstall....sounds interesting.:)

A quick google suggests that it was bought by VMWare and is now known as ThinApp.
