I've done a few of these, around R200:

D-Link DWA-131 wireless N , nano USB ( 18x34x7.7mm micro size ) , 2.4Ghz ( 802.11b/g/draft n ) , 300Mbps wireless , with WPS button , 64/128bit WEP , PiFA antennas

Awesome. So this just plugs into the WD and then if my router's wireless is enabled, I can use the internet features of my WD? Awesome :)

I also have a WD TV Live with one of these. I read somewhere that it only has a RX rate of 150Mbps and not 300...

/ I use mine with a TP-Link MR3420 router.

Do I have to install something on the xbox?

I don't think so, don't have one. I can't imagine why. Like I said xbmc is just the os on xbox.

If you do go for a dedicated solution, then wd tv live is great. A friend has one, even has an android remote (and a normal one).

But really, you have an xbox, that's all you need. If you find some files aren't playing, you might need to upgrade the firmware.

I tried playing off a USB on my xbox before, and it didn't work. Do I have to use streaming?

i tried alot of times to connect xbox to pc and play movies of my xbox ....the only way different formats work is if u log into live and put your movie in and when asked to update software you do that

I bought the WD TV Live.

Seems pretty cool except this network sharing is a bitch to set up.
