Just be careful though that if you ordering something like this from overseas then they need to see the wireless licence when it comes into the country. It happened to someone recently on one of these MyBB threads.
 
What would you do if you were in my shoes?

The desktop PC I have lying around here has the following specs:
Core 2 Duo 6600 (2.4GHz)
4GB DDRII

I would just have to get a Graphics Card with HDMI.

I'm sure that would be more than enough to use as a dedicated Media Player.

You could do that and it will work. Why I like the dedicated android media player is that it is small and quiet and fits in well the TV room.
 
So I got myself the R-Box 4K. Very impressive little device. 2GB Ram and 8GB Rom. And off course 4K Video that I'm not able to enjoy fully becuase I only have a FHD TV. But it's future proof.

Running Android 5.11 and got my 2TB USB Drive connected. So far the kids are enjoying it. I'll have time to play around tonight.

I'm struggling to get Kodi 17 installed. Don't know why. Been trying the whole day.
I will have too contact him and ask for help. I'll keep you posted.
 
Got myself the Mygica ATV585.
Netflix works 100%
IPTV works 100%
Kodi works 100%

Connect an external drive via USB and record from kodi if required.

Streaming quality depends on line speed. I have an 8mbps line, little to no buffering on HD.

Kodi streams without buffering 99% of the time in 1080p.
I don't watch anything unless it is HD.
I have a 10mb line

Then something like that should help. Where in Cape Town are you situated?
 
Only tried Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime - all works.

All apps downloadable from App Store so I assume it will ?
