A media release is a very effective medium of spreading an issue. Journalists need to be reminded about issues - there are simply far too many other interesting issues for them to handle to remember Telkom/ADSL.

A suggestion:

Please post the e-mail addresses of all the journalists you know on this list.

We must be ready to either post a media release early next week on either the lack of response by Telkom, or the response by Telkom.

Mondays are excellent days to send such releases. Then there is a few days during which the press could do something about an issue.

Hi Kaspaas

Thanks for getting the ball rolling on this.

I am going on holiday for a few days, and next week Monday therefore sounds great. We can get a general newsworthy media release ready which can be sent to all relevant journalists. We can also send letters (to be published as letters) to a variety of newspapers. We must just make sure not to spam these guys.

Regards,

Suggestion: Appoint one forum member as media spokesperson (RPM) and one member as media writer. That way, all messages to press on interview come from a central source - RPM and all press releases going out are written by the same bod and therefore consistent and factual.
We then all have to agree not to make any statement to the press or release anything to the press representing the forum unless one of the moderators of this forum has vetted the content.

I am happy to comply? Anyone else?

Good Idea now who will be the media writer?
There are so many good ideas floating on this forum I think its about time that we have to nominate certain people to do certain things.
There is to much going on at once here and I think its difficult to keep track of various issues.Maybe a comitee or similar.

1.The Spokesperson(RPM)
2.The The person who gets all the info together(facts, press release, etc.Scans the forums and sums up the whole thing.
3.The writrer(as peapod suggests)who puts all of it together.In a proffesional manner.

Then all issues dealing with the press go through one person,RPM.
No other correspondence is to be entered into with the press with out the knowlage of the above three people, who we would have choosen as MYADSL members.
All liasions with the press should then end with ....

RPM
Spokesperson for MYADSL

What I think Im trying to say is that we lack stucture here.
We have to start to make It proffesional.
