Medunsa protests

Read the thread and you will realize that there are people who are saying the students deserved to fail.
In response to the latter part of your post, you need to understand that when people in former white institutions complain, their complaints are usually solved immediately. In former black institutions its a different story. The protest was a peaceful one for 1 week without any response from anyone. Then they burnt 2 cars worth less than 50 000 combined and then everyone started to take them serious.
The problem is not the people who vandalize but the people who do not take people serious until they start vandalizing.
In a perfect world, this problem should have been solved without strike

No, there are people here who are saying the students should suffer the consequences of their actions. If they vandalise, then suffer the consequences.

Ok, so because the cars were worth less than R50,000, that makes it ok...
to get rid of few workers who are collecting 100 000pm and failing students for subjects which cost around 10 000 which inturn causes income loss because the student is busy repeating? ya I think 50 000 is a very small price to pay.

With that said, I wish people can just take their job serious so that students dont need to strike for such silly things. This involves other levels of government. Take e-toll as another example. No one wants it but it is here to stay until people start burning tires and other "animal" behavior. Matching to union building, nkandla, luthuli house etc wont help.

Did they torch the vehicles of the people who failed them, or did it belong to some poor sod who struggled to string together enough cash to buy one? Either way, stop trying to justify criminal behaviour...

Campus technical service cars.

Just an update on those who tend to be quick to judge things they dont understand

Turns out the students complains where legit. The students who failed got a remarking at UCT and passed and are now doing final year and will probably finish around august next year. The professors who were responsible for this things are suspended and there are investigations going on.
As i have mentioned many times here, don't believe anything from that tabloid called news24. Its main target market is the racist people who comment on it.
As it stands students are back to class doing their best to cover for the lost time including attending on Saturdays.

/Says not to believe anything mentioned in the tabloid that is News24

/Cites News24 as his source

/Fail

That is for doctors, and not a single salary mentioned in that article comes CLOSE to R100000pm.

Chief specialist (professor) packages move from R932 399 to R1.2m, which represents a 29% increase.
Reading and basic mathematics helps. Should have taken maths literacy in high school buddy:D

This is an article which was releasing figures stated by the minister. There are many other articles from more reliable sources but this was the easiest to find. Plus I can also use my salary as a reference point to confirm the figures.
