Can anyone suggest where I start.

I have an IS static IP solution which includes a Billiton router hardwired to manage the 5 static IPs. It does not do wireless.

I want to use my old Mega 100WR to "uplink" to the new router.

Has anyone fiddled with this before, must I changed the LAN settings on the 100WR to use the Billiton router as gateway and make use of one of the IPs?

Any help appreciated??!

Thanks
John

very possible. all you need to do is set the Default Gateway on the Mega 100WR to point to the LAN IP address of the Billion router. Clients who then try connect through the 100WR will be routed to the billion, because there's no active (dsl) connection on the 100WR taking preference over the default route.

Thats what I was thinking, but the Billiton router doesnt do DHCP, or will it need to, perhaps I can assign the old wireless router one of the static IPs...

Your thoughts?

Just play with it, its not like you are going to break something?

What I would do is give the 100W and all the PC's a static IP, connect the 100W directly to the Billion routers lan port. This should work.

Change all the gateways and dns' of the PC's to point to the Billion routers IP and you should be set?
:p

Yeah, I have about 25 people using the wireless in the office, so want minimal interuption so getting my ducks in a row

I am going to connect the 100WR to the Billion via a CAT5 cable for sure and then my servers (Exchane, OCS, ISA) will all get static IPs and be connected via CAT5 as well.

The Billion router does no DHCP, it is hardwired so I have the DNS settings which will also be manually set on each PC and the 100WR...

If you're going to have that many people using it then if I was you I'd get something like a WRT54G, it'll make your life a lot easier.

Yeah granted, thats not concurrent use, and its working fine now...

The thing is that this is our little break out away from the corporate internet, now I need static IPs so I subscribed to DataPros service which includes the router, I only have 1 ADSL line currently, so will need to leave the wireless in place somehow.

When my second line comes, the static IP router goes onto that and I am back to normal again.
