Evening Guys,

Picked up my Telkom issued modem today (200 VWR) and plugged it in, inserted my dsl line and the damn thing won't sync!! Plugged in my old netgear and it sync's first time.

Anyone know if there is something on the router I must change? had a look and its all greek to me...

Installed my mega 200 2 nights ago. Works fine.

I can't find the options to change the password? How do I do this as this is the first thing I should do together with turning the router firewall on?

Check the manual: configuration - user management. Put the new pass is - save - apply - log in again with new pass.

Hi, I also tried my Mega 200 that I just got and it also won't sync. Technical department says that line is active and it should work. Don't know if I must try a firmware update, but I'm taking it to Telkom Direct tomorrow to test.

Is the 100WR the one that can connect to the computer with USB? The person on the orders department call centre told me I'm getting a modem that can connect by USB. But this one is only wireless or ethernet. But that suits me fine.

I presume the 200 is better than the 100?

I got to 200VWR, after a few teething problems (caused by myself) the modem worked fine. The CD you get in the box is actually quite useful. Got a nice diagnostic wizard on it for trouble shooting. Haven't completely read up on the modem yet, but you can plug voice lines into it for voip - looks impressive!

To change PASSWORD

Configuration......>
System........>
User Management.......>

On your right-hand side go to Edit
Then you can change ur Password from there

It turns out my modem wasn't sync'ing because the line wasn't ready like they told me it was. Turns out they still have to set the jumpers. They could have looked that up before spent an hour on the phone trying to get it to sync. So still waiting for jumpers...

K well finally got the router sorted out after it wasn't syncing (faulty router).

Swapped it and now the router sync's but the speed is bad. Getting a max of 248KB/s and when I plug in my Netgear line sync's up to 340KB/s. (4MB line)

Does anyone know what the problem could be?? Is there a Firmware update I need to do? A setting that needs changing? A modem that needs throwing?? :)

Yus bru. Has your line ever synced at 4096k before ?

Post your line stats... Signal To Noise Ratio and Attenuation

eg... This is off my mega100

Us Rate (Kbps) 384
Ds Rate (Kbps) 4096
US Margin 13
DS Margin 6
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 47
US Line Attenuation 27

Nope, never sync'd at 4096 before, but Telkom told me it wouldn't so that is fine. But the Netgear sync's at 3460 (max) and the Mega 200 only at 2480 (max).

Have tested this, I plug the Netgear in get the sync rate (eg 3260) and the plug the Mega in an the sync rate is much lower (eg 2480), then I plug the netgear back in and sync rate is back at what it was before... Can't be the line can it?

Will get the stats when I get home and post them.

you sure you are plugging the line in the correct place? that router has that voip garbage, confuses many.

Also have you verified the line? meh but you stated that the tech staff said it's active

Sounds like symptons of a non-verified line struggling with attentuation

Yeah, but it works perfectly with the Netgear router I have... Which I would keep using instead of the Mega but my office might need its wireless network back sometime this year :)

I have the mega 200VWR router and about every 10 mins it diconnects itself for about 2 mins and then reconnects. When it is disconnected the router says xdsl line not synced. Does anyone know what might be the problem apart from it being a telkom router.

Just stumpled upon this post now. I had the exact same problem. You have a different router now? Telkom couldnt fix my problem, so I gave up in the end and got MTN 3G.

I'm also having the same problem with my 200vwr. Randomly disconnects about 10 times during a day.

On my previous router the, 105wr I also experienced disconnects but only 2 or 3 times a week.

How can I check if the problem is the router or the line itself?
