Melon Mobile launches eSIM and Family plans

South Africa's newest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) — Melon Mobile — has launched eSIMs and Family Plans.

"eSIM, which is a digital substitute for the physical SIM card is now accessible to customers with eSIM compatible mobile devices," the operator said in a statement on Wednesday, 27 September 2023.

We are working on some cool changes for our Mobile Packages. We will update clients as soon as the changes are live.
I would prefer to use an Afrihost eSim everytime I visit SA since I already have an account. Would just make my life so much easier.

Family plans not showing on the iOS app. Anybody have the family plans show up for them?

The eSIM works reasonably well. It’s impressive to be able to add another SIM card within 5 minutes directly on my phone.

My experience with Melon Mobile from a data side is that I only get LTE signal no matter where I am. Coincidently, this was the same experience shared in an earlier article on Mybroadband in May.

I like that the data doesn’t expire. That is the biggest drawcard for me — buy some GB’s and then don’t have to worry about it.
