Memory Combination... good? bad?

2x 512MB UNB PC2700 CL2.5 (Apacer)
1x 512MB PC3200

Are in a PC that I have here.

The PC in question crashes randomly (can apparently go for days without crashing and sometimes, crashes every 5 minutes), now my first guess would be that one of the chips is faulty but I'm also thinking that mixing the PC3200 with the PC2700 is a bad idea - but the PC3200 should be able to down itself to work with the PC2700.

What are your thoughts?

Run CPU-z and check if the PC3200 can actually support the lower speed, if it does adjust RAM timings

Run it without the one 512 meg stick and see.

Could be timings that are conflicting.
