Mercedes

Anyone else have a new C Class? Does all of them have a lousy soft hollow felt lining in the boot? Especially the part covering the fuse box?
I think I now know why the C Class is cheaper than its competitors... Bleh!
 
It is a space age material design to outlast inferior "percieved quality" materials found on common Folks wagons :p

For somebody who drives an entry level Opel, you seem to have a lot to say about the interior quality of other cars :rolleyes:
 
My parents moved over to Mercedes from VAGs a long time ago - so I know a little about Mercs. When I bought my first car I steered clear from VAGs and I will do so for ever. Opel is an honest and non pretentious car.

And what's that got to do with anything? We all know that the build quality on VWs was not the best "a long time ago" - so what you're effectively doing is taking stabs at a marque because of your ancient prejudices. Obviously "a long time ago" Mercs were way ahead of VW (nobody here would deny that).

But things do change and the gap is closing. Merc is probably still ahead, but not by the margin that it used to be. Have you ever got into the new Jettas and Passats?
 
I know new VAGs are very good cars - I am very impressed with the Tiguan 1.4 TSI - excellent car and the quality is in some cases better than what you might find in other German cars.

The problem is it is still a VW or Audi - no class, not that impressive heritage. If I would drive a car that has no class and lacking heritage I'd buy a Hyundia.

That might be your opinion but according to many motoring editor the Audi is way ahead with their interior styling in their class.

Buying a car for heritage is liking having sex just to reproduce. You buy a car because it's good, not because a few donkey years ago they invented the 3-series.

And why is it ok for Merc to come up with a 3-series competitor, but not ok for Audi to do so?

Also do you need to be reminded that VW was the one to bring premium car-like build quality to the hatch and mid-sized saloon car market? Why are you not crapping on other marques for doing the same thereafter?

Hey, wouldn't the chrome classify as timeless? After all, that's what most cars had right up into the 70s, and the better cars had into the 80s.

I bet if you blindfolded a group of 5 people and asked them to open the boot lid of a Jetta4/CC/A4 and then the c class, all 5 of them will think the solid feel of the VAG cars was the Mercs, thats perceived quality. Blind fold them again and take them for a drive and ask them to listen out for road noise they would all think the the drive in the Merc was the Jetta.
As for space age materials, this car has underfelt in the boot, like that scrap they fit under carpets for your house! I have better quality carpet inside the wheel arches of my Polo!
 
can anyone give a full differentiation between C200K Elegance & same model in avantgarde

what about the ride. i found the ride in the avantgarde harder. has this to do with the suspension. anybody has an AMG extra fitted to this vehicle
 
do you guys know of any type of spray or gel of some kind... one can use to put on those black plastic strips outside the car... because after a while the sun dries out the black and it becomes like a whitish color...

Reason I want to know is because I got myself a merc 200 SLK 2009(iradium silver, black trim), very nice car indeed.. and would like to take care of it. Thanks!

Yeah, you can pick up trim dressing, stuff like Back to Black (I think) at autoparts shops , Game, etc.

Its only a cosmetic upgrade.
Like a sport pack, but its 100 times better then the elegance. Its the one with the big Merc badge in the grill, the Elegance has the old fashion chrome grill. Different wheels, it has brushed aluminum inserts inside, and chrome bits.
