I've a few pcs lying around. My idea is:
1. chop off a 100GB partition
2. nfs these partitions to a single pc
3. share the nfs shares again as nfs share to the network. I now only need to access this pc to interface with all those 100GB partitions.

How do I go about merging all the common folders in on the original nfs shares into one folder? Or, if that can't be done, manually making a folder and mounting all the common folders into that?

Symlinking seems the easiest, but will be tedious if my few turns out to balloon to many.

Googling seems to suggest I'm wanting to setup a DFS. Anyone done this yet?

I don't know what you mean by "chop off a 100GB partition"

Check the man page for the mount command, and search for the "bind" option.
