Yes, but Telkom owns half of Vodacom... wouldn't their policies filter through to them?!
Only the 50% that Telkomonopoly owns, which means that vodacom3g is employed by the other 50% of Vodacom :)

LOL, I have actually entertained the thought that no human being in SA could possibly provide such comparatively good service as vodacom3g, therefore vodacom3g must be an artificial intelligence lifeform or something :)

Not exactly sure how much Vodafone owns of Vodacom's 3G - I think it was 15% or 30% - it is somewhere on the forum...

Er, as far as I know they're only partners, Vodacom has no stake in Vodafone, and Vodafone has no stake in Vodacom.

It's like the coca cola collaboration...

I would have a coronary if Telkomonopoly actually provided customer service, after all they don't need to when they have the entire country by the short & curlies.

Telkom DO provide customer service, but you have to wait in line to get it - and I don't mean on the end of a telephone ! :D

So, if your having sh1tty service from Telkom, go to one of thier offices, wait for about 2 hours in a queue while watching about 3 out of 5 people at thier desks doing more than picking thier noses work so slowly, they may as well work half day, or also be picking thier noses (possibly the most productive activity they'll do all day)

When you finally get to be helped, you then need to find out that either a.) Your in the wrong queue or b.) have the wrong info or c.) Your lucky, we'll help you.

If it's c, you then need to wait about 15 minutes while papers are shuffled, keyboards are tickled, fellow workers are consulted and generally end up looking at the light fixtures because they seem to have more life than the employees. You are then presented with inconclusive help and leave the Telkom office/shop wondering what happened with a strange desire to pick your nose because at least it will have made your wait more productive.

So yes, Telkom DO actually have customer service - hey, nobody ever said it had to be GOOD - that would be just crazy - hhahaha !

Read wot I wrote again ;) Vodafone owns some % of Vodacom's 3G, not the whole of Vodacom.

Just for Interest sake - Off Vodacom's Website

Vodacom Group's shareholders include Telkom SA Ltd (50%), VenFin Ltd (15%) and Vodafone Group plc (35%). Subsidiaries of Vodacom Group that are helping South Africa's leading cellular communications group to remain on top include Vodacom (Pty) Ltd, Vodacom Service Provider Company (Pty) Ltd, Smartphone SP (Pty) Ltd, Smartcall (Pty) Ltd and Vodacom International Holdings (Pty) Ltd.

Was really suprised to get a "partial" acknowledgement from WBS that there is infact a problem. So now what do we do about it? Some of us have laid out R2700 from their UTD's some others are stuck in a 2 year contract...

Hopefully this issue will be resolved ASAP! With the speed I am getting some days I might as well hook up my 56k and take the beating, atleast it will be less frustration.

Whats the speed like for the rest of you at the moment?

Peace

High Fibre
(sorry dude I will never get tired of doing that :D)

Some of us have been running LSM, have a look at my speed test results in my siggy, and KK's smokeping shows a whopping 84% packet loss on my connection today, safe to say my komper still isn't a happy camper.

Sorta weird init?

Are you english or something? or one of those guys who was there for a month once after high school and now you say init alot?

Seems to be mostly international bandwidth that is the problem on my side, local sites seem fine. Anyone asked WBS if any progress has been made yet?

Yes I asked Dylan yesterday & today but he walked away from his PC without telling me anything :(
