Messaging Device Suggestion?

On that note I'm also caught in between choosing the TyTN-ian and the N95!! I've decided to upgrade tomorrow. I'm a hard core Nokia fan!!! But I've been eying the TyTN-ian recently. So, give 5 reasons why I should get the TyTN-ian (as opposed to the N95).

Make a Table:
TyTN N95

My dilema is --- wait for the E90 or get a Tytn.

I have the 9300 and i love it, always had nokia.

Tytn looks good

What say you

Thing is I'm so used to Nokia. I know it in and out plus I have some apps that I bought which should I get the N95 I will easily transfer the license without being charge (if I take a diff OS).

Moreover, isn't the TyTN a bit too big? But also the N95's key board (slide factor - a No NO) after using the N80. I actually like the 6630/6600 form factor type and also E61 etc.

I like putting my phone in my pocket, will the TyTN-ian fit? I hate that pouch!! I'm damn confused????

Well the jasjar is huge compared to the TyTn and i carry it in my pocket altho I do use a V3x when I go out. Jasjar is just for bussiness during the week. I cant tell you what to go for if you dont come right with the TyTn you gonna smack me for recommending it. Its what you need to use the phone for that will determin what to get. Anyway a few points on the TyTn.

Brilliant outlook integration
Office comes packaged ( you dont need to to buy a package to edit docs and spreadsheets like the nokia apps)
qwerty keyboard
Touch screen
1000's of free apps to make life easy
E book reader
MS voice command (for when you driving)
No need to whip out a laptop for quick tasks like ammending a spreadsheet and mailing it

Once again if one handed operation is essential like firing off a quick sms while driving this phone isnt realy for you

Eish, what a tough decision to make! I will sleep on this and see what my dream/s will lead me in. I had 3 phones in mind: JasJam, TyTN and N95. I have eliminated the JasJam after reading some forums where by users experienced endless problems with it.

The race between the mighty TyTN-ian and the magnificent N95 is too close to call! I guess the low in the TyTN is the size. Wrt to the N95 - the slide factor is a turn off!! But I'll see tomorrow morning what choice I'll make...

My SE K800i went into MTN for repairs. Brand new phone that lost it's "bios" after 2 months of use.
2 Months later I got it back after having to hassle them to get it back. All I have to say is this. Worst service I have received from a cell provider - MTN scks. I have a Nokia E61 also. Works like dream. If I has a choice I would have gone for the new Nokia E61i. It now comes with a camera also. Super cool.

Why? He seems like a nice guy . . . :p

Hehe. :)

Talking about WM - how does the smartphone edition live up to the PocketPC editions? Is it worthwhile to to the Smartphone editions?

Oh, and btw, the phone is actually for my girlfriend. I will probably get a TyTn (or equivalent) when upgrading in June - so no convincing necessary here!

well, for a girlfriend, def. the N95. Much easier to use and get used to.

For a messaging device, the TyTn is king until the E90 and HTC 4550 shows up at the end of the year.

no, unless you're strapped for cash :)

edit: actually, the smartphones are again a bit easier to use, as they normally have a normal keypad in front. They are just not as versatile as the ppc phones with their touchscreens.

Except that she WANTS a QWERTY keyboard - that's why I is considering the Samsung i600.

Somehow it never works telling this forum that you're on a budget... :D

The i600 wouldn't be a bad choice if it's for your gf - Samsungs seem to appeal to the chickies :)

Thought it was for you which is why I recommended HTC

I am a happy user of WM 2003 based HP iPaq 6515, but having had a Nokia E61 for a few days I would not hessitate recommending it - good keyboard, and mechanically quite simple (less to break). No touch screen, but no stylus to loose either. Email works well, particularly with Exchange 2003 with latest SP. There is a decent selection of 3rd party apps, though not quite as big a choice as on WM. The E61 is offered on fairly entry level contracts.

The E90 is definitely something i'd consider waiting for, but if the Nokia E61 is on your list then why not the Nokia E70 ?

The E70 has that fold-over keyboard [so pictures of it can be misleading as it looks like a normal phone] , this keyboard is far easier to use than the E61.

I got the E70 on a Mycall-100 [equivalent of the weekender on MTN] for R500 pay-in.

That BlackBerry Curve looks apealing, pity it has no video calling. I think its more or less the same as the E61. Talking about the E61, I think the E61i also looks appealing. But then again, NO video calling!!

As for that E70. I have never been a fan of such phones.

By the way, I have upgraded and I am waiting for my phone. And No, cant tell u what I chose...

Hi all,

I am looking for a smartphone with messaging in mind - both e-mail and SMS. Thus, a keyboard would be great. Unfortunately, budget is not unlimited and I don't want to pay in more than R1000 on my Weekender+ contract.

I am currently considering:

Samsung i600,
SE M600i, or
Nokia E61

Anyone have any suggestions or opinions? I played around with the Samsung today and it was very nice (very thin, looks good and like the fact that it comes with 2 batteries), although the screen is a bit smallish in my opinion (even though all of them has the same resolution). Convenient internet browsing is also a must, that's why I like the ones with WiFi (Samsung and Nokia) built in. But the touchscreen in the SE is great...

Help?

Samsung i600 will cover all your needs. R869 pay in on Weekender. I was a little worried about getting a Samsung, but so far I'm incredibly impressed. (Takes a lot to impress me).
