hopefully heaven but probably hell
i have this weird problem with msn messenger that when using iburst it struggles connecting and gives me strange error messages. at first i thought it was msn messenger service but i dont have this prob on adsl.

so it can either be the iburst machine or the iburst network.

anyone suffer similiar woes?

Well for what it's worth, i think MSN is having network issues in general. I couldn't connect yesterday and now it's also starting to act up. [getting a "MSN servers are temporarily unavailable etc]

I am using MTN 3G.

Check my post in the Vodacom 3G sub-forum, I thought it was a Vodacom problem, but it is on Vodacom and on iburst 4 me, and alot of other people are also having problems connecting

okay cool - funny that cuz their Service Status always says everything is fine, when clearly everything is not fine.

EDIT: but why is it fine on DataPro ADSL?

Its very weird what is happening.
Direct on the IS Backbone = Fine
iBurst = Fine using Messenger for Mac, not fine using 3rd party software
Vodacom 3G = Seems to be fine now, using 3rd party software

Someone mentioned something about DNS changes that are not replicated properly/correct yet

iBurst != fine :(

i tried open DNS with no success, but that seems to be PEBKAC error.

IIRC my router is set up with static DNS servers ... maybe thats the difference why my iBurst one is working

Correction: I use the iBurst DNS servers

I find that when with Iburst you're capped that its very difficult to connect to msn or at least remain connected to the msn network

It has been having problems all day, seems fine now. I dont think this is a Iburst thing, maby just some of their providers.

It was a bit like this yesterday too, like someone said.

But I stay connected to MSN as long as I want when capped, and it connects like normal?

@halicon: When I say iBurst DNS servers, I refer to the ones I get via DHCP from them

Flush your DNS

Hi there, just a note for those who are struggle with MSN connectivity...

This worked for me:

1. Exit MSN
2. Set IExplorer to OFF LINE
3. Close other browsers & email applications
4. Run CMD.exe
5. Enter command "ipconfig /flushdns" without inverted commas & hit enter
6. Set IExplorer to ON LINE
7. Restart MSN

Your problem should be resolved.

Regards

Michael
