Meta Platforms Inc. started its process of ending news availability in Canada over a law requiring digital platforms to pay local news outlets.

So not just South Africa that requires digital platforms to pay 'local' fees then?

Fair enough, Meta isn't really a streaming service but I thought 1st world countries wouldn't come up with 'local' fees for international services?
