Well this one I did not see coming.
I understood that MTGS4 will be last installment of the series, well it seems not.

Who wants to bet me that MTGS5 will NOT be Sony exclusive. :D

Kojima: "I Gotta Start Thinking About Metal Gear Solid 5"
105 PSX Extreme says:

At this point, Metal Gear Solid 5 will probably happen (even if it is without Snake). Franchise creator Hideo Kojima has now said it himself during an interview with Famitsu:

"I gotta start thinking about MGS5... Even though, well, Snake's story ends in MGS4. ...About MGS5, that would be something that Kojima Productions would have to make, I think."

Now you looking for k*k from the PS3 fanbois :p

Yup, MGS5 is supposed to be Big Boss story.
These are prequel to MGS1,2 & 4.

There was rumor for a while that Konami were looking at releasing MGS4 for both XBox360 and PS3 as they were not sure that they would make target by just releasing on the PS3 alone.

Was interesting to see DMC4 released for both as this was supposed to be a PS3 exclusive.

I have said this before but will gladly say it agan (it gives me pleasure).
Most of the current PS3 exclusives from MGS4 to FFXIII are only exclusives because of the strength of the PS2 not on the merits of the PS3.

I am not surprised that DMC4 came out for multiplatform or that Soul Calibur is alos multiplatform, I wont be surprised eitehr to see Tekken as multiplatform.
I will be quite surprised to see God of War as an exclusive.

The reason for this is quite simple.
The installbase for the 360 is much bigger than teh PS3, the cost for an exclusive is enourmous, sony has some financial issues.
It is not fiscally viable to release a massmarket title for a single console.

Agreed, reminds me of the battle between Dreamcast and PS2. The dreamcast was a great piece of hardware but Sony strategy at the time was better than Sega.

It will be interesting to see how the Microsoft vs sony one pans out. At the end of the day the competition is good for me and you, the consumer.

hahahahahaha, i can't believe people still speculate such things, if MGS4 were to be on xbox it would take about 3 dual layer DVD's and the HD-DVD totally bombed out. Yes X360 is a good console BUT it's not big in Japan which many people tend to forget.

I think the leading console in Japan is the Wii ,

which in my opinion is about as much of a gaming console as my toaster ;)

JJ :D

More than 3... MGS4 is 50GB... And some of that is compressed.
And then the question is how would you play it multi-disc?
The Xbox360 quits the game when the tray is ejected.

Hmmmm...how long have you been playing games for???
Even the Ps2 used the multi-disc option for alot of the Jrpg's, the same for Lost Odyssey on the 360 - 4 disc game.

For those of you that doubt it can be done.
Once you have completed a disc, it asks you if you want to save, you then continue and it asks you for the next disc - you open the tray and insert the next disc in and press continue.
Your game now resumes from the new disc.

Really, some people. :D

Havent been playing multi disc RPG that for sure... :)

Well frankly if MGS4 did come to the 360 Kojima could seriously fit all the good bits on 1 DVD. Just replace all the cutscenes with the relevant game plot pointers in text, not the backstory (considering most 360 fans aren't going to care fo it anyway) And there you have it.

In fact, remove all the cutscenes, and you can probably make MGS4 a 350Mb Arcade game. ;)

Well doobiwan, with the new title there should not be any backstory.
MGS is known for the cut scenes and they normally are good.

It cant be that dificult to fit a game of that spec on 1 disc.
Can anyone remember Vagrant Story for the PS1.
It was on 1 disc but the amount of game hours (i clocked 100 hrs) and customisation that you could do (synthesise every single weapon and armour part from gloves to bows, to guns) was astounding.

Yeah, I remember vagrant story... Havent played it much but my friend had a copy. Seemed pretty cool I must admit despite not really being much of an RPG fan myself.

I remember it with bitterness. I came late to the PSOne party so when I tried to get my hands on it locally it was pretty much impossible :( What was the other one I wanted, "Chrono Cross" or something like that? Same story.
