meting.ics - How do you work with them?

I've done a bunch of Googling and and searched here a bit.

I can see that there is an issue with iPhone accepting meeting invites from Outlook but what I can't seem to find is how people work around it. Any hints or tips?

How do you keep you calendar up to date or view and accept or decline meting requests on the iphone?

If I open a meeting invite it allows me to accept it from within the mail app. I am also connected to a kerio mailserver at work (ms exchange protocol) and if I have push enabled, it pops up on my screen and u can accept it from within the calendar. Only issue that I have is, when I accept it in the mail app, it doesn't delete the message from inbox like outlook does.

In my case the senders are not using exchange. they're using outlook from home (e.g. Outlook POP/IMAP to Mweb) or webmail.

I found a rather klunky work around last night. Fwd meeting requests to Gmail. Accept meetings in Gmail whichs adds it to Gmail Calendar. Install a CalDAV for Gmail in the iPhone. So now on the Iphone I have my work calendar and gmail calendar. it works but it's not very neat and tidy.

mmm... at least you have a workaround for now, but it should not be that complicated... Will post here if i find some info regarding this
