not that I like the idea of beggars on street corners but this is fsking disgusting. :mad:

A handicapped refugee has told Eyewitness News how he was wrestled to the ground by Johannesburg metro police officers and allegedly robbed of money given to him by a good samaritan.

Mahomed Salim Issa sells "Homeless Talk" at a Fourways intersection and was recently a recipient on 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Christmas Wish.

It shows Issa fiercely holding on to his yellow bib, as a uniformed officer and a plain clothed woman yanked it from him, while another uniformed man stood and watched

This kind of treatment irrespective of the reason enforced by a civilian and a single law enforcement officer is nothing less than robbery and assault.
 
Awe c'mon guys, handicapped beggars are easy prey.

Given the choice, would you choose the guy with a black sash on his white denim sweat suite over a handicapped?
 
No one does anything, I made the remark to a friend yesterday regarding corruption in our municipality. No body does anything, there is no justice, evil thrives in this country.
 
Who is surprised? The ANC has been mugging and raping the South African citizens for years now.

Still proves nothing.

I didn't see any assault as mentioned. Also, there is no footage of what transpired before this clip. Don't just judge a book by it's cover.
And yes, if they did indeed rob him and that is it. They should be thrown in jail and be made to pay him back R 1 500 per person who part took.

If he was guilty of any wrongdoing then he should have been arrested and taken down to the local police station, you know, as is standard procedure for policemen. The cop and the fatty took his stuff and left. That's robbery, plain and simple.

If it was counterfeit goods? It would be seizing the good and not theft.

I wouldn't have any issue I don't see any assault. None what so ever. They where trying to take something from him and he held of for dear life. It's impossible for us to see what it was and yes it could have been handled differently. But assault? come on guys...

It is a clear assault from the footage. As Mike says, the JMPD should have arrested him to justify any action taken - including injuries to his person.

Ok let's do this:

If this was a person that did a smash and grab, was assaulted and then arrested everyone would have been saying "Good Job Metro". What makes this any different? We don't know what transpired before the clip started. Please give me a definition of Assault please as I'm clearly not understanding what assault is.

Then he should have been arrested and allowed the system to take it's course. An officer has no right dishing out justice as they see fit. This was robbery.

Can you honestly say you would have had the same reaction to this clip if it was a smash and grab robber?
 
The man can barely walk,if it was a smash and grab it'd be hilarious watching him go ^

2 Non-officials assisted an officer in pinning,pulling and at least in one instance in the video,kicking the vendor. Do explain confiscation and arresting in such a manner for a disabled person?
