i took a metro rail train to van rhyn (station after northmead, benoni). i did not have the ticket because no one was selling at boksburg. at the exit at van rhyn i was asked a ticket and i said i didnt have but i want to buy a return boksburg. i gave the old man a 10 rand note and he gave me 5 rand change but with no ticket i asked for the ticket and he said i should buy a return on when i m going back.i refused since he was going to pocket the 5 rand. he
threw my 10 rand then started shouting at me to pay a fine of 45 rand because i entered a train without a ticket. i argued until a man who works for metro rail came and i tried to explain to him but he took his side. it got out of hand until i labelled them corrupt workers that when the old man removed his jacket and tried to assult me in the full view of 2 secutity guards. i jumped in the railway tracks and started running with them following shouting "stop the thief)
i out ran them and went to northmead station to notify the station manager there but there is non what should i do.
i refuse to be corrupt completely.

You got onto the train without a ticket.

lol that was quite a funny story.. lol i would of just ran as well.. Why fight lol
 
Are you unable to buy tickets on the train?

Guess nobody actually thought of that option. I often board trains here in NZ without a ticket, can buy on the train with fpost, credit card and cash.
 
BS. If theres no open window where you get on you may buy at your destination. In the Cape at least. Doesn't Metrorail have a crime line or something?

They come around with little ticket machines when they check tickets sometimes, but it's not always available. You can buy tickets at your destination if the ticket offices are closed, they even have a special booth for that at Cape Town station.
 
Not to worry. It's allowed to go burn a couple of coaches down, standard practice should you be unhappy with or traumatized by the service the train companies deliver.
 
I suggest you go for trauma counselling. It's free at any police station, so you don't need a ticket for that - otherwise this could haunt you for life.
