Hey guys need some more help please.

Ok so I have to take Greencom as for the 1st 3 months thats the deal.
I do not understand how this is allowed but I have no choice.

So I have a router / modem and they are now telling me I have to install their Mikrotik router which is pissing me off because in the end the installation fee is R1710-00 which is ridiculous when others are offering the router for free.

Need advice on how to proceed please guys.

I dont feel like forking out almost R2000-00 when others are offering the modems for free.

Greencom also are not prepared to absorb the cost, crazy when all others offer the routers for free.

Advice please guys?

You could consider it a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I've been with them for around 4 months now, not a single issue the whole time.

Why not just wait the 3 months out?

That unfortunately is the only option I see

You see our community welcomed MFN and Greencom with open arms, without fully investigating these kind of things. luckily, Telkom and some other Fiber Provider is also coming in, so more options and hopefully none of this Greencom/MFN commercial agreement nonsense being pushed onto the client.

I just find it ridiculous that they dont offer the router for free, never mind the installation is double to most other providers.
Well there goes another 3 month wait for fiber

When did their offer change ?
They installed on my unit without charge ... though I am with MFN+Firestream from the get go.

The issue seems to be Greencom, our Estate has MFN i have had no issues so far, line is priced ok and our three months is up so they have gone open access so we can use which ever ISP is allowed on their network, what i have noticed is the resellers like Greencom are the problem. but thats just my experience.

I do not appreciate being ripped off.
Charging triple for something ?
Everyone else around the R500 mark and free router ......im bring screwed

I agree you are being screwed, that "Set up fee" is ridiculous.

Greencom resell MFNs IP service, so win win for both parties with this solution.

Maybe you should try what I did. Greencom/Metrofibre has been installing in my complex since January. They are finally going live this month. Like you say there installation charge is crazy. I contacted another ISP and asked them to find out from MetroFibre when the complex is open access. To my surprise they said from May. So I did not take the Greencom fibre, will wait a few weeks then go with the other provider next month.

This is what i will have to do. Not going to pay R1710 when I can pay R500 for the same thing

Maybe confirm that with Metrofibre they usually say 3 months after going live they go open access.
