Micro Nuclear Reactor

Wow, I wonder what that costs to build and install.

If all the airports/naval yards got their own units to power them and perhaps the neighbouring areas it should really help those monkeys in Eskom.

Now that sounds shcweeet :D

So a group of neighbours can clap up together and buy one for their block, and give Eksdom the collective .!.. :D:D:D:D

Thats precisely what i is thinking :D

200kw's is a buttload of power, should be enough for a normal city block in this country...

Warships and submarines have had micro nuclear reactors for decades. It's now moving into the public domain ... as with most technologies that have military roots.

I wonder what it costs?

It seems like the only expense is buying it initially, and then it'll produce 200kW continuously for 40 years and it'll generate power at US$0.05/kW so unless I'm missing something:

0.05 * 200 * 24 * 365 * 40 = 3504000

Basically US$3.5 Million. :eek::eek::eek:

Yep, and less likely to Chernobyl-ize my back yard.

That too, although if it produces 200kW you might actually be able to make quite a profit off one if you put it in the right business area, considering Eskom's general incompetence.
