Nope, as long as you wring/wash it out well you'll be fine.

I've scratched camera lenses, as well as the infotainment screen in my car, with microfibre cloths so I don't think they're any safer.

True that, I guess it depends on what dirt is on the surface? Doesn't matter how soft the cloth is if there's something abrasive you're rubbing over the plastic/glass/paint, etc.
