Hi all

I'm looking for some recommendations with regards to your preferred microfibre drying towels? With my recent interest in car detailing (OK, washing my own car, not quite detailing it yet), I find one area that is currently lacking is drying it.

I got a yellow "drying towel" with a microfibre wash mitt from Shield and whilst the size of it is nice, it doesn't do a great job when it actually comes to drying. It seems to leave very faint trails of water behind. And I usually end up having to take a smaller microfibre cloth and wipe up after it. Kind of pointless, right?

Locally available, it seems that Meguiars has a decent drying towel, but before I take the plunge and spend what seems like quite a lot of money, I'm interested to find out which towels you're using for drying after washing your cars? There doesn't appear to be a lot to choose from. And the shipping/import costs from overseas are painful.

P.S. Even though I'm in Cape Town, I still wash my car! With harvested rain water, of course. ;)

Followed by Autoglym Chamois. I've had mine for 10+ years.

P.S. I don't work for them, no connection.

And you don't have any issues with scratching of clear coat? I was under the impression that microfibre is better/safer on your paint (not hating on chamois, just what I read). :D

That is why you wash it out and don't drop it on the ground otherwise no.

Why I suggested the Sheepskin chamois, don't use the cheap ones

I use the rubber part of a window squeegee on the whole car, works well.

Throw away the chamois.

Check crazydetailer site. Online and a store in jhb. I have several of their waffle weave drying towels. Also try pristine detailing.

Thanks for the recommendation! I just had a look at their towels, but am debating the cost of it...

I used one from CD for 5 years and recently bought another from them. It's great quality

Nope, as long as you wring/wash it out well you'll be fine.

I've scratched camera lenses, as well as the infotainment screen in my car, with microfibre cloths so I don't think they're any safer.
