i have a microsim that was used for an ipad. I have since tried to use it on three different modems to connect to the internet. Three 3G dongles (zte K3805-z, Huawei E173, Huawei E1752) and a Huawei WiFi router.

The sim connects to the internet and browses perfectly on the ZTE and the E173. on the others, it connects to the internet, but no ability to browse. the connection status shows as limited. I have troubleshooted and looked at so many factors to the best of my IT knowledge but nothing.

A few things i have noticed between the perfect connections and the limited connections is this:
1. DHCP is off
2. No default gateway
3. Netbios over TCP is disabled

i am wondering is the problem related to it being a micro sim and having some restrictions on certain devices?

#1 and #3 are in result of #2 - failing PPP negotiation. Why it is not working with some devices I don't know. The easy way to solve this problem is SIM swap.

I am with Sajunky on his answer for the failed PPP.
As far as the other devices are concerned have you checked with the service provider for the SIM that it is supported on their network?

I would approach the respective outlet of the ISP and ask for assistance.

Regards

Tim

Reading it again, is APN set properly on all devices? I am asking, as this setting is stored in the modem (router). Set it to "internet" on all devices, it works on all local networks. You can do it in MDMA "Set APN" button, it needs to do it only once.
