Microsoft again hits software piracy

It's not "piracy" either. I like this one from the FSF:

Publishers often refer to prohibited copying as "piracy." In this way, they imply that illegal copying is ethically equivalent to attacking ships on the high seas, kidnapping and murdering the people on them.

If you don't believe that illegal copying is just like kidnapping and murder, you might prefer not to use the word "piracy" to describe it. Neutral terms such as "prohibited copying" or "unauthorized copying" are available for use instead. Some of us might even prefer to use a positive term such as "sharing information with your neighbor."

Disc replicator, MPO Group, admitted that its Thai subsidiary inadvertently replicated thousands of Microsoft server software discs after relying on a fake licensing agreement. MPO agreed to a multi-million-dollar settlement, and co-operated in the investigation. Details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
So it was an authorized M$ copy house that inadvertently copied thousands of disks illegaly...
Personally I think M$ should take some responsibility for the proliferation of their software...
They should take some of the blame for encouraging and bullying the market into relying on ther software in the first place. Aah well - bully for them.
