Microsoft banning Gears 2 (& CoD5) Pirates

Ive been sitting here trying to think of a reply to your snotty little comments regarding piracy, I just cant think of anything.

Im pretty sure someone here will agree with me that the *if you can afford it you dont deserve it* whiteknight BS mentality really doesnt cut it here on myadsl, if you want to justify raping your bank account by taking it out on people you dont know go on xbox-360.co.za.

If you havent pirated ANYTHING in your LIFE, a song, a movie, a series, ANYTHING, then yes come cast your little stones, otherwise keep it out of here!

Somebody needs to figure out how to hack the Xbox Live content so it can be transferred anywhere anytime.

Are the mods getting better? Hope so.

Yes we all have pirated stuff, just dont try to justify it by saying MS deserves it.

The DRM & security schemes on the Xbox 360 is rather solid, hence the reason homebrew is "almost" non-existant.

The current hacked firmware merely lets the DVD-ROM accept DVD +R dual layer games as original via software. It does nothing else.

The only other mods are to downgrade the dashboard to a vulnerable (read original dashboard) to able to run Linux on the 360 or change the region-code (once-off) from PAL to NTSC-U as an example.

There is a HDD mod to put a bigger capacity drive in your system, but it most likely gets you banned from XBL.

The cool mods if you have the time, money and patience is customising. Upgrading the cooling, custom paint job, LED lights, etc. Something I will be doing once I have all the accessories I need.

I find it amusing how some of you are saying they got what they deserved...
is xbox that great and awesome, that nobody should try hack it or crack it?
I had an xbox, it was not all that...

Do the same guys who are flaming the xbox crackers, have pc's and are they running illegal software? if so that would be highly hypocritical of them... crack a pc but not an xbox.. sounds silly..
Xbox titles are sooo damn expensive, id expect ppl to crack them, burn them etc.. this is what pc users have been doing for years to combat high prices...(obviously piracy only makes things more expensive in the end)
If you want to play online thats a different story, not even Pc users can get away with playing illegal stuff online, only locally...

I've also been reading online that legit users have been banned from Xbox Live. As in, un-modified consoles.

Microsoft servers are just randomly slamming the ban hammer. I wonder what the stat's are like for SA XBL users with modded 360s ...

If you can't afford 360games get a ps2. It's because people want stuff for free then use prices or live as an excuse to pirate, that's the problem.

There is something called xplorer 360 which allows to copy stuff from hard drive to hard drive, its still in early beta form and the hard drives must be xfat formatted, and the 360 directory structure is extremely confusing

yes person A dislike high prices

person A can either :
purchase item for high price
get item for free

person A chooses to get item for free

no...;)

  • Person A complains about high prices.
  • Person A pirates due to high prices.
  • Company A increases prices due to piracy.
  • Person A complains about high prices.
  • Person A pirates because of high prices.
  • Company A increases price due to piracy.

Rinse and repeat...

Personally I will buy a game if i think its worth it. Ive played tons of games and most of them are rubbish and I never get close to finishing them. So whats the point in me buying games if i dont actually play them? If the prices were lower however then it could be feasable.
And plus, why are xbox games so damn expensive? Its cheaper to spend more on a pc and buy cheaper games :-/

P.S. Ive preordered left4dead right after playing the demo. Totally kickass game :D

you buy those games after a year for R100 or R150 if you realy want to play them, second hand market for the win.

blah blah blah...price is too high and too expensive and all that crap...
Then stick with your PC and pay R2k for your graphics card that is valid for all of 1 year!

You can do the same with pc games. The console prices have really gotten out of control since the rand/dollar crises. They were expensive before but now its getting ridiculous.

my solution to high price of console games ..... turn everyone I know into an Xbox fanboi and either split the costs or lend games :D So far, 2 people getting Xboxes this Xmas ... yay for me ;)

we both right my thing was from persspective of person and yours was perspective of company. i wonder what would happen if :

  • Person A complains about high prices.
  • Person A pirates due to high prices.
  • Company A decreases prices due to piracy.
