Hi all

I set up a new PC for a client with a Samsung 2560x1440 screen (i5 Haswell, Gigabyte B85, 2*8GB, 9600GT).

Their old Microsoft Arc cordless mouse did not want to work well, intermittent connection, and very jittery movement etc. Works fine on other computers.

I sceptically supplied a Microsoft Wireless Mobile 4000 mouse, hoping it would resolve the issue, but it exhibits the same problem, although it works slightly better.

These mouses/mice should be plug and play, have installed the Keyboard and Mouse software, but no go.

A corded Razer Copperhead and cheapo corded Logitech mouse both work fine.

I'm left thinking it is a resolution problem with 2560x1440 being too high for these cordless mouses/mice? Do they perhaps need a higher DPI?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't see how the DPI of the mouse will be an issue as that refers the area of illuminated surface the little camera under the mouse picks up. Do both mice use the same receiver?

No, both different.

I tested my Logitech cordless numkey pad, works perfectly without showing any signs of loss of signal etc.

Lol this is quite ridiculous.

Okay well I have had wireless mouse intermittent issues in the past, but found it was due to either the mouse dongle or actual mouse being close to other cables on my desk.

Interference somewhere.

Have tried a back USB 2.0 port and front USB 3.0 port, same issue.

Might have to breadboard to test this... But my Logitech cordless numkey pad works perfectly. Held down the buttons for 2 minutes, never skipped a beat.

Will start by testing with a 1920x1200 screen though.

also have a problem with an ms wireless mouse and my netbook
wont boot if the wireless dongle is plugged in

What about trying a short USB extension cable, and then ensuring the mice and its cable are at least 10cm away from all other electronics?

Will try an extension.

I would try and download the latest drivers next...

This is a bit more complex...

As per OP, I have installed the Keyboard and Mouse software, but no go.

Weird. Maybe its emitting 2.4ghz frequency & thus interfering. Does it improve if the receiver is very close to the mouse?

99% sure its got nothing to do with the resolution itself/DPI.

Well I had a logitech G7 and a nokia N73. When watching the a movie one night (with my phone on the same table as the mouse) I got a sms and all of the sudden my media player turn down the volume......I am like wtf

So after testing it out when somebody sends me sms and my phone is near my mouse it tells the computer the scroll down wheel is moving (turning my volume down) So yea weird stuff with wireless ****

Tried front USB 3.0 which is much closer and was no different.
