“The problem relates to a date check failure with the change of the new year and it is not a failure of the AV engine itself,” the company said.

Sounds like Microsoft kicked the Y2K can down the road (j/k).

I watched that recently and was surprised when Dave Plummer said there was not much date handling in Windows (he mentions XP, we all get old and forget things, but I think it should have been Windows NT 3.5x, NT 4.0 and 98/ME).
