Rather than derail another thread, I'd rather post the stuff here...

When I had all the SA airports, the SA maps (esp the CT one with a nice Table Mountain)
I enjoyed taking off from Ysterplaat with a Cheetah or Impala, flying around the peninsula and doing a coastwise flight to George or Plet.

Just add lots of AI traffic, Boeings, clouds etc.:)

I didn't add extra maps, but often took off from even the smallest airstrips... I was suprised at two of the airstrips it had from east of Pretoria... those ones are really really small yet they still have them.

Now you're making me want to install the game again. :)

I just used it for a few months, while I was doing my PPL, to get used to instruments, turns etc.

It was quite useful.

For those that are interested, seems like CNA has the Flight Simulator X Gold Edition (Flight Simulator X Deluxe + Acceleration expansion pack) bundle on special. Stupid me cannot remember the price so I don't know how it compares with the BTGames price of R489 :o

I should get FS X sometime maybe... I bought FS2004 back in the day when it was almost R500....

Played it on the desktop at home today on the best possible graphics, highest AI settings. E8400, 4GB RAM, Intel 4500HD 1024MB @ 1068x1050... damn it looks good. For a 4yo game it really does.

Not a bad price I reckon... especially for overpriced M$ software.

It does depend which plane you are flying. Some planes are much easier to master than others. Take the 747-700 for example... it took me quite a long time to master.

Which Joystick would you guys recommend?

I bought the Logitech Wingman 3D Force Feedback joystick, it does the same job as the Sidewinder (I know people who have one) and costs less than half the price.

It's the second from the top of the line. Costs around R500-R600.

The graphics in this game seem to be in software mode??

am i missing something here? In setting the video is pointing to my card 8800GTS 512mb, graphics atm are shocking..

:D Go check in your "display" in the settings, it should have a hardware/software setting somewhere.
