Haven't run Windows on any of my devices for over a decade now. Never looked back.

Still got Windows 10 at home, it's okay-ish but hardly ever use it myself. Got Linux Ubuntu set up for everything except CorelDraw and our printer.

I'm probably going to downgrade to Windows 10 and use it until the very last second possible. Windows 11 sucks donkey balls.

Do you remember when some older version (I think Win 7) was widely believed to have been crippled by them to force people to upgrade? Wouldn't put it past M$, or be surprised if they do it again with 10.

Been using Windows all my life, always been on the latest versions, yes even Windows Xp X64 and Vista *shudders*, but if they want to do ads in the OS natively, Ill definitely switch to some linux variant.

Windows just makes it the easiest for gaming as everything is by default compatible, Linux gaming has come leaps and bounds, so I'm sure most of the mainstream games will work perfectly fine

Installing a Linux GUI has become a piece of cake. There's also no incompatibility as the default drivers can run any hardware on a basic level where Windows will simply give up.

Another benefit that few people mention - because of the support for a wide variety of hardware, if your computer has a hardware failure, you can simply take the OS drive out of your current PC and install it in a different one. Linux won't throw a hissy fit like Windows and crash while trying to boot with the new hardware. Essentially you pick up where you left off, as though nothing happened.

Its a good thing they are finally coming out, They have been force feeding us a lot of their shiid in a sneaky way for too long, at least now we know what they have been building up too.

The main problem will be if the ads/suggestions are based on the usage of the computer. Some people will be in trouble if they are projecting their laptop for a business meeting or conference and then open that menu.

Android and ios are Linux, as is the great majority of the operating systems for electronics.

@konfab put up a pedantic post, so now my turn. ios is in fact based on FreeBSD and not Linux, which also uses GNU system software. Therefore I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as FreeBSD, is in fact, GNU/FreeBSD, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.............. (refer to Page 1 for the rest of it).

Thats why I removed administrator rights from my kids pc.

How does it suck exactly? I had Win10 on a pc where I did data recovery and it was slow as hell when the files got past a few thousand. Popped the drive into Win7 and it was flying through hundreds of thousands of files. Just one of the many things MS screwed up with Win10/11's new kernel that keeps me from upgrading.

Win XP was crippled with the second service pack. Most people don't know that even 32-bit Win XP is perfectly capable of using up to 64GB ram but MS disabled this and made a more than a decade old feature of Intel obsolete in order to sell Win 7. Your pc would go from using 8GB to having 4GB minus device memory after installing the update.

I'd like to see some specifics somewhere. For me both are crap and I don't see a reason to move from Win7 but some software is now forcing me from it or perhaps towards Linux if it will work there.

Just try it yourself. Hopefully it works for you.

Folders don't always open. Have to press windows key.
Start menu doesn't always open. Have to press windows key for it to respond.
Need to restart Explorer often as something gets stuck somewhere in UI.
Settings are all over the place.
Audio settings are mess.
Doesn't recognise my microphone of headphones. Have to open realtek setting and go to advanced setting and then tell it that it is a headphone with microphone.
Stuff are hidden behind menus inside menus inside menus.
Folded View settings doesn't stay and have to keep on telling the stupid thing not to group it.
MS wants to push suggested apps and promotions.
Windows key + P doesn't always work properly with multiple displays.
Right click menu requires more actions to use some functions.
There are a 100 other small things that grinds my gears and I'm not gonna bother listing it.
