Microsoft launches budget Surface Go tablet

Why thanks dude...

See backstreetboy, it wasn't very difficult....

Would be interesting to do a side by side spec comparison really... I do think the Chromebooks might come with slightly better specs, but at $399, the Surface Go is a compelling price point for what it offers.

Actually the devices listed all have less storage space then the surface, most in the 300-400 range all sport 16gb-32gb.Honestly 32gig is peanuts these days how many of those devices are dockable 2 in 1? Most of them, but those that aren't ? Makes it less appealing to say the least, you be better off spending that on a android 2-1

This however makes the surface rather pointless

This makes both pointless

To but it bluntly other companies can do what they offer most often better and cheaper, kinda makes both the chromebook and surface tablet useless, and they don't even necessarily have better hardware.

The Surface (from my dealings with MS and just general understanding) are not really meant to take over the market, or be cheap... they're almost reference architectures that OEMs can improve on for cheaper....

On face value that would make the iPad seem cheap.

Depending on packaging and spec of course.

Base model without the keyboard should come around the price range of the ipad, i included the Keyboard in my price estimate because who on earth would buy a Surface without the keyboard?

That is like saying I will hand over my junk and let some one else reproduce with it, doesn't make sense. Why on earth would they spend millions on R&D and let others reap the benefit. It's more to do with greed then any thing else.My issue is what they are asking you might as well get an android device, apps store is larger, much much better support and still be able to get an entry laptop with the change left over take your other half to a movie, buy some eggs and throw it at the Microsoft HQ.

Not that I am saying android is end all devices, just isn't worth it, as it is basically windows with a touch screen. The thermal and generally throttling on intel CPU's is perfectly horrid. There is no upside of owning a surface bar, having to flash around an empty wallet.Less common sense and more daftness is what it should be called...

Honestly its a balancing act for MS... they need the OEMs to build kit for their software.., so they can't price them out of the market....

The Surface was a "new" market segment, and many OEMs have run with the segment and built some really great kit at different price points...
