Hi,

Been trying to get hold of a remote in PTA/Centurion area with no luck. Where can I get hold of one?

I'm still deciding between XBMC/Media Portal or Microsoft MCE so the remote should work in all.

Incredible Connection? Musica should have the XBox ones.

Don't MTN have a service you can call and they'll locate something for you?

Concierge or something like that.

The xbox ones should work but I need the receiver as well. I've been testing on my laptop for now and as far as I can figure out the standard IR port uses the IRDA protocol but the remotes use the RC6 protocol.

Go for Media Portal. The final has just been released and it's really fantastic for watching / organizing movies and tv series.

Don't really like the default look though, but there are plenty of great looking skins available.

And the MCE remote works perfectly with it. :)

Yes, I've come to the same conclusion. Was leaning towards XBMC initially but for some or other reason the divx video playback was really sluggish. I'm 90% happy with media portal...just need to look into the fan art.

What service do you use for guide information?

IIRC Frontosa sells them. So you would need to get hold of someone with a dealership there. Good luck!

What remote (make/model) do you have? Microsoft or Haupauge? I would like to get one that doesn't need any tweaking and just works out the box:)

MCE

XBMC All the way. Been using it for years - never had any problems. Plays divx and everything else I throw at it perfectly (except mkv)

The Microsoft one. I'll check tonight if it has a model number or something.

Media Portal plays mkv files as well. :)

Are you using XBMC on an XBOX or Wndows machine. I was really enjoying the ease of use of this application compared to Media Portal and would still consider it but I'm having problems with the video playback:confused:. Divx files as hazy, sluggish and choppy. Have you had the same experience?
