Microsoft mobile: Clueless strategy?

I think they're learning from their past mistakes and making sure everything is polished and working perfectly before they release it.
Looking how great my Zune HD interface is makes me excited for a mobile platform based on it.
And with 3 or 4 HTC phones in production to be ready for release at launch makes it even better.

Allard worked out by Andy Lees at Microsoft ... and then Lees crippled the Kin to protect his domain ... internal "king of the jungle" stuff that should never have been allowed.

Microsoft is showing signs of an aging overweight corporation that's lost the spirit and values that made it successful. Time to "re-imagine" Microsoft?

If they release Windows Mobile 7 and it is decent people will use it.
Only problem is it's coming out facing up against iPhone OS 4.0 and Android 2.2, which are mature and sophisticated OS'es (I was gonna add WebOS but that's fallen off the train), and it's totally a 1.0 product! AFAIK it doesn't even have copy & paste! So good luck MS

Yeah, I jumped of the Microsoft train about 3 years ago....and never looked back. Good riddance, their software is archaic in design and operation, compared to what is available today.

I've heard that there are a lot of extraordinary minds at Microsoft. Microsoft should maybe stop and first look where they want to be in 10 years. I'm a OSX user and i've checked out windows7 and there are GREAT things in there (i love the way the windows organize themselves). It would be a HUGE hit for MS if WinMob7 fails. They should pic there platforms carefully and make that GREAT! personally i think that Balmer is not "the best" ceo, They should get someone with vision.

Microsoft is feeling the effects of competition, and doesn't know how to cope with this phenomenon other than slitting its own corporate throat and then wondering why it is bleeding to death.

Woe is Microsoft.

Time for those who have a clue to take Microsoft's place in the set of relevant market leaders.

6 is still standing strong. Face it. Android and company are strong and I wish I had the cash to get the Android phone of my choice but Windows Mobile 6.1 is lekker and on some phones the cost of access to the product is just so low you get much more bang for your money in my opinion. And please. All the Blackberry nuts, stay out of this discussion... ;)

Windows Phone 7 will be great for business people that use Office a lot & wants easy sync with their Windows 7 notebooks/desktops.

BUT...if there's no app store, dont know if it will fly...even if there is one, doubt it if devs will have much freedom.

If they do for WinMO7 what they did for Windows 7 people will buy it. Its not over till the fat lady sings and Microsoft is a FAT beatch!

Apple's App Store has got a huge lead on MS. Will MS ever catch up? MS will have to come up with a fresh take on the whole App Store thing. If MS opens up their full App Store to all users everywhere it will have an advantage over Apple outside of the US. But will it come with competition for iBook for instance? Apple got it right, offering so much in a very simple but classy operating environment.

if there's one thing that apple has shown the world is that mobile must lead your future strategy.
the desktop market will always be there, but it's not what all the pimple-faced kids are using for mxit and facebook.
and they will steer the technology purchasing choices of the future.
i think microsoft realised this with kin, but they lacked the conviction to make it work due to their corporate/desktop mindset.

microsoft dominated the 90's
google dominated 2000's
apple will dominate the 2010's
hopefully linux will get its turn after that... while i'm still alive.

I just wish Apple can sort out their SA operations and get the full App and iTune stores active here so that we here can share equally in that 2010's domination. An Apple mobile product is severely crippled (but more expensive) here in SA without full App and iTunes store access. Get the local distribution/support sorted out and give us full access to products/services and Apple WILL dominate here.

The problem is that Microsoft has delayed so long over releasing WinMo7. Heck, they delayed long in even updating WinMo6. People will not stand for it again. There a few holding out for 7, but if they take to long to release updates, no matter how good they are, people will move on.

Just open a US iTunes account. Why give any money to the local music industry if they're too short sighted to let iTunes into SA?
