I am being retrenched but have the opportunity to buy my work laptop which is a 2 year old HP EliteBook 650 G9 Laptop with 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1255U, 1700MHz, 10 Core, 12 Logical Processor CPU with 8Gb of RAM, 500GB HDD, 15.6" monitor, etc. and comes with a docking station. It will be wiped and loaded with Windows 10 and I presume I will need to look at Office I regularly use Excel, Word, etc. for personal stuff. I haven't bought software in a very, very, very long time and now there are things like Office 365. Is Office 365 the best to go for as opposed to a local version? What are the costs involved?

Microsoft are difficult to keep with in terms of what is available but the 365 family sub I have allows me to install locally on multiple machines(and phone). Personally can’t stand the online versions.

Get Office 2019 for R99 from Carbonite. I dont see the point in getting office 2021-> and having to pay R349 every year sub.
Win 11 Pro I got for R69. "Softwarekeys" reseller there.

I would prefer something like this, that is what we have at work at the moment, local versions but O365 accounts so we can use either.

I like to stay as up to date with at least Excel as I do a lot in Excel and having access to the latest help a lot.

Try the newest MS Office suite then. Softwarekeys guy on Carbonite has a 1 year sub for R269? or so.

Thanks, I'll check it out, I have two weeks left before forced leave unemployment retrenchment becoming a house husband.
Hi Bud,

I sell Windows and Office products on both Carbonite and MyBroadband.

I can definitely help you out with some cheap options. Check my posts or send me a PM, and I will best assist.

Kind regards,
Rory

I usually search Bobshop.co.za - there's always selling the 365 subscription for a bit cheaper than MS (bought one yesterday for ~R900 and activated without issue).
