Microsoft smartwatch plans: Forbes

Hehe. Not the first time they're doing a watch.

I got a Microsoft Data Link in 1994. It was a huge round thing with an old-school LCD display. You could upload data into it from the PC using an optical sensor - the CRT flashed patterns on the screen which were read by the watch's eye.

It synced with Schedule Plus, the calendar program, and also stored contacts info. Real har-tech in its day.

Still have it lying in a drawer somewhere. Dunno if works with LCD displays, but probably will.
