Company funds - salary included? If it isn't its understandable.

I'm confused... so if you're an apple employee, you're not allowed to use ms office, sharepoint, develop in C# etc? if your employees aren't even willing to use your own products, perhaps you should be asking "why" rather than forcing them to stop...![]()
This only proofs one thing!
Microsoft Staff think Apple is great!
"Microsoft stops workers from buying Apple devices with company funds."
Non issue, but gets a click count.
Apple is not the enemy you twits. MS makes software for OSX!
If they consider Apple as the enemy they should stop making Office for OSX, which would be stupid.
I am fairly sure Google already have something like that in place, it is standard company practice and you are being a bit silly. Employees can still buy Apple with their own money, but it creates a shocking corporate image if the marketing guy rocks up using the competition's device while trying to sell you their one. What would the reaction be if this was Apple doing the same for android devices? The apple haters would be frothing at the mouth.. But it's Microsoft so it will slide...
Apple buys all the android devices, just to make sure no copyright was infringed
MS isn't so paranoid.
Um MS get huge royalties for every Android phone sold due to patent/copyrights.
Some royalties from some hardware producers. There are producers that have not caved into Microsofts thuggery.Um MS get huge royalties for every Android phone sold due to patent/copyrights.

$5-15 per Android device sold is pretty hefty in my books.Whats your definition of huge?
Both pay royalties to each other. Windows Phone does not simply skip the law. That is why the patent deals have the words Cross-License in it. Hence the lack of paranoia. Windows Phone still pays some FRAND license fees to Motorola/Google but we will have to wait for the court case to finish to know whats going to happen in that front as Motorola is reluctant to sign the cross license deal as they don't stock Windows Phone models like the other OEM's.

Some proof would be better.

Like I mentioned, and after you deduct how much Microsoft pay them back for the use of patents as per cross-license deals, what is the balance then?
People seem to always forget there is 2 side to the story...
I have no idea what MS spend is, I just noted that MS do receive a lot of money from Android phone sales. If you have some figures for the MS Android spend please share, I would love to know!
I just find it amusing that the competition (MS) are being paid every time an Android (HTC, Samsung and so forth devices) is sold.
I don't think anyone knows the real numbers or even if real money exchange hands as the cross-license agreements come with Non disclosure agreements. Hence my question on how can you claim its huge?
Correction, not all Android phones, only for the ones sold in the affected countries. HTC for example does not have to pay a cent to Microsoft for any devices sold in SA and alike as we do not have software patents. You can not force someone to pay for something that you do not have.
I based it on what I had read in the media, there are many, many articles stated various figures in the hundreds of millions of $. That seemed significant enough, I realise I have imperfect information, but I expect news agencies to vet their information to some extent before publishing. $100 000 000 upwards is significant to any company, even Apple - remember this is coming out of their profit (HTC's and the like).
In short, yes I do not know the true value changing hands, but based on the current public information it would appear to be a fairly significant figure for any company to have to pay out of their profits.
Again please quote source. Please.
If you post such huge numbers you can not do that without quoting source as I pointed out All the people in the know is hiding behind NDA's and all we and the media can do is speculate.

Yes, the media can speculate - analysts are paid good money to try do this with fairly reliable accuracy and this affects things like share prices. I have noted with available information it is reasonable to infer a fairly large payment - why else bother with NDAs?
The cross license agreements don't decrease the liability for this license, the license is just paid in part by bartering for another license that MS would have had to pay for.
