No the surface book is the first device in it's category. A laptop that can be detached and used as a digital clipboard.

A number of other issues have also been reported elsewhere, including Forbes:

Dead on arrival, or badly limping on arrival
Random crashes and lockups, such as a Run32DLL error after using the device for awhile
Working fine until updated, after which fail to load
Failing to boot when in the dock
Detaching from the dock results in an error, the most common related to SearchUI
Random display driver errors displayed every 10 to 20 minutes
Playing video files while connected to the dock sometimes gives an “unable to decode” error. After displaying the error 2-3 times, it refuses to play videos until rebooted
Going to a web page where there are a lot of animations or movement causes a black screen. Undocking and re-docking brings the screen back to life
Random trackpad freezes

All these issues sound very similar to the Nvidia Optimus problems people have been having all along. They cant seem to get the 2 GPU setup working on a Driver level.
