Microsoft Teams – Work remotely without feeling remote

Works pretty well bar the occasional blip for us. Been using it exclusively since Jan last Year. Love the meeting recording + transcription that it does
 
WTF is Ian Coldwater, and why should we care what his kids are doing with Zoom...

though I will say a Zoom Date sounds pretty epic as a parent, you can record it and punish the child later if they step out of line...
 
Could anyone give details on the free edition?
I'm only finding old resources online.
How many users? Space? Features?

Kubernetes pro. Really really good at their job and well worth a follow on Twitter if you deal with Kubernetes.

You shouldnt really, in context, my comment was a reply to konfab discussing the term "zoomer".

Ahh ok, so an IT person then (like most of us)... cool, just so we have context of course..

I've used Zoom before, I wasn't impressed personally... But like everything, what doesn't work for me may work perfectly for someone else.
 
Teams works great with fellow IT peeps, throw in a few sales people and project managers half dialled in and it soon turns into an echo'ing mess with people talking over eachother. Guess this rings true for any of the collab options.

Pretty much... even with IT peeps... had a conference call this morning with 20 people and it turned into a bit of a mess....

Teams (and all collab solutions really) need to implement a few management options for larger meetings, like a "raise hands" option.. or having a meeting chairman who has the ability to mute and unmute participants so that they can speak freely without being spoken over.

Teams and Zoom do allow you to mute other users if they are making noise (background or otherwise) and i know Zoom has the *raise hand function too

They really have come in leaps and bounds

Yeah they all have..

One of the features I found in BlueJeans that I really liked, and I've raised it with MS is "Spacebar to talk" in a meeting... so you can remain muted and if you want to talk its a simple key hold to talk for awhile... I found that feature to be invaluable, to the point that I still do it by mistake when I'm in teams meetings...
 
Teams has its frustrations, particularly group notifications and some of the more complicated integrations can be hit and miss.

But the videoconferencing does work very well for us - we've been having frequent videocons with over 20 ppl with no glitches at all, and a feature we really like which isn't available out of the box in many competitors is the ability to take over a remote desktop during a telecon (as opposed to just sharing your own), which is invaluable for providing remote assistance, etc.
