Microsoft to offer free security

Like they release secure properly programmed operating systems?

Thanks but no thanks.

Something like that is too important to leave to a Microsoft app

I make a living from Microsoft products, and a damned good one at that. So I won't slam MS. Besides, if no MS, would any of the other products out there (Linux etc...) be as good as they are?

I just wonder what the response of our mainstream AV companies will be with MS released a no-cost product like this. Sure to be some anti-competition law suits popping up.

So are you saying that their products are better than MS? :D

*ducks*

Nope, just that if there was no competition, there would not be any other good products out there.
I acknowledge that they are good, I just don't have a use for them :)

I wouldn't trust Microsoft to protect my PC from Internet threats. They have released a few applications (MS Antispyware, Windows Defender, WL 1-Care) and none of those are/were even remotely capable of providing solid protection.

Microsoft will release an anti-malware program that provides as much protection as the condoms government handed out a couple of years ago. Staples and all...

Are they actuallt trying to clean their own mess (with some other intentions included of course)

Oh its free... its not free if you've bought Windows, its only free if you've pirated it...

So, I'm guessing it won't protect against Microsoft authored DRM malware?

this still remains sad..Microsoft should refrain form thinking "secure" seriously you'll end up just finding massive random red splashes against microsofts walls if they try keep this up cause their heads will literally explode! My point is Microsoft is incapable of security and should stick to the only thing they do proper aka xbox.
