Microsoft ups interoperability strategy

This sounds like opensource.... well, making money out of opensource, that is.....:D
 
What are the chances that developers across the world will spend thousands of man hours re-coding FOSS to work with M$ and then in their next release, they'll break it all again?
Just wondering..
