Microsoft warns against worm attack

WHAT?!?!?!?! Cyber crooks digging for weakspots?!?!?! OH NO!!! Hide your daughters!

Oh yeah...thats right...its always been like that innit.

Hackers dissect patches to identify weakness being repaired, then craft malicious code to take advantage of flaws in machines with software that isn't kept up-to-date.
Bwaaahahahahahaha!
This is a public service announcement.
Microsoft will now scare you into installing every patch they release.
Thank you very much for your attention.

Tips to avoid problems :

1. Install a good, dedicated firewall (such as Smoothwall).
2. Install a content filtering system (such as DansGuardian) and explicitly block ALL websites except those your workers need to visit.
3. Filter all email outside the perimeter (before it enters your company's email server). Drop all executable attachments, and emails with links to suspicious sites.
4. Control (or ban) the use of memory sticks and other USB devices.

Might sound draconian, but if you insist on using any Microsoft Operating system, then you need to take the above precautions.

1. Use a firewall, even windows firewall serves a purpose, but, importantly, know what ports are open and why.
2. Don't access dodgy websites.
3. Do not download dodgy software.
4. Make sure auto-run is disabled on your systems.
5. Backup.
