Microwaved Food at resturant

so about 2 weeks ago i went to CT fish market

and we ordered a choc volcano for dessert ...so the thing arrived and was flat with choc oozing out

so now there isnt a surprise choc centre cos there isnt anything to break into

I asked the waiter to get us another one and a friend ordered the same and her one was perfect.

So he told us the microwave was the cause. Now for me eating fresh and microwaved food is a big difference.

And this was R50 or something for this meal.

Would you be happy with a microwaved meal regardless of what it is when you paying so much at a restaurant
 
No, not at all. Especially considering Nando's has a good hot choc pudding for R20.
 
Nope - I don't even do microwaved meals at home, so why would I be happy eating it when I'm paying a premium

I would also be p*ssed off
 
most of the chain store restaurants (CT Fish Market, spur, etc) all have premade desserts that they microwave and churn out. In many cases their spinach and other vegetables are the same too. Bulk bought, heat & eat stuff.

AFAIK many buy from chateau gateaux, http://www.chateaugateaux.co.za/


Unless its a high end restaurant serving dessert at R150+ per serving, its always going to be a readymade heat and eat jobbie.

yeah but a R50 charge for microwaved food ...thats hectic

and yeah i know some do it alot more than others, even the guy at ocean basket told me they do that with creamed spinach

quite sad

There isn't any money in desserts especially if they are made onsite. Little choice and it is often reheated or freezer burned. I would rather have a starter or another drink.

I went there for the first time in about 4 years the other day. Wasn't great.

Precisely my point...Why spend R50 when I can get a take away dessert for less than half the price.

That being said, I ordered a pancake at a coffee shop the other day, R45 and it had no ice cream. Just raw banana and a little bit of Nutella sauce.

yeah most pancake places prices are sky high as well..the one at the biscuit mill and waterfront is crazy

At Biscuit Mill, they have Belgian Waffles which are absolutely amazing. Also over R40 though and not really that big.
