Hi

I got taken in by the Afrihost Zest deal last year. Unfortunately that phone's decline in battery and support means it is time to get a new phone.

The Zest has converted me to dual sim, especially now that OTT calling requires far less airtime purchase on my primary sim number. Looking at other posts it seems that I should either continue with Afrihost mobile data or go Telkom mobile. But which midrange dual sim phone to get?

From searching, it looks like these are the current or near future options:

Windows:
640
540
535
532

Android:
Moto G (2nd Gen dual sim), via Orange Store
Doogee DG 550 Dagger
Doogee DG 900 Turbo 2
Redmi Android Note, via Takealot

Are there any others to consider, such as SA companies that are importing or branding imports or other good devices soon to be released?

Also what are the chipset and build qualities of some of these contenders like?

I am very interested to hear the opinions of those on the community with expertise on all these matters.

Thanks.

If I had to choose from that list then the Microsoft 535 or Moto G. But only because I have played on both and I was pleasantly surprised.

I can't comment on the others, but I bought the cheap and nasty lumia 535 for R1375 from orange. To my surprise it's a great little device, it's cheap, but far from nasty!

I got a Lumia 730 Dual Sim. Works fantastically well and you can choose which sim
is to be your data sim etc. Please be aware that some sites show the only difference
between the 730 and 735 being wireless charging support.
The fact is: 730=dual sim,no wireless charging,3G
735=single sim, wireless charging,4G(LTE)
I ordered a 735 from Orange thinking it was DS and luckily cancelled it in time.

Moto G2 is very good for Android fans, friend of mine bought from Orange
Huawei Mate7 looks good if you like a BIG Screen

Bought myself a Moto G 2nd gen last year. (Currently running Android Lollipop) The only mistake I made was buying the 8 gig internal memory version instead of 16 gig. Although I have a 32 gig sd card Android and other files that cannot be moved to the sd card, quickly takes up the 8 gig.

The phone is really a pleasure in every respect and if I have to buy another one today it will be the same but with bigger memory.
