Hi,

I have to move in February to the general Midrand area, close to Vodaworld.
Looking for a single 1 room flat basically, I just want to be able to have ADSL available to me.
I stayed in Greenstone for 3 years before they had ADSL lines, I don't want to go back to 3G ever again.

So what areas in Midrand, close to Vodaworld, have ADSL infrastructure? (Noordwyk/Vorna Valley/Any other suitable area for a bachelor)

Thanks in advance for any help :)

EDIT: Just FYI, I'ved tried the availability checker on Telkom's site which didn't come out informative.

The best thing to do is check with your potential future neighbours in the same complex, and see if any of them have Telkom lines in the first place, and how many of them have ADSL. Get their telephone numbers (ask nicely and explain why you need it), and check with Telkom if those telephone numbers can have ADSL on them.

From what I've read, Midrand is pretty much a hit and miss area. Large parts of it are without Telkom lines, and in the areas that do have it, Telkom might not be willing to connect new customers, or that might not be free ports in the DSLAM to cater to new subscribers.

If ADSL is that important, make it clear to your landlord. Tell them that you first want to apply for a line and ADSL, and once it is installed and working, you will then sign the rental agreement. You might have to do this while there are tenants still occupying the flats...
