Midvaal is no more

So ... just heard on the news .... the Midvaal will be merged with neighbouring municipalities and will form a new metro (under ANC controll I would asusme)

Will look for link .... this I heard on Jacaranda news.

Good News.

Was expecting this...

The ANC can't take the truth when the voting public actually speaks.

I don't think the permanent residents are going to be happy about this.

Would love to see the ANC lose elections... wonder what they will do then...

And people say we live in a democracy. Here's the cANCer controlled [-]Election Rigging Board[/-] Municipal Demarcations Board deciding who will run Midvaal, long before the date for the poll is even set. Just like they've done with dozens of cities previously.

The honest, TAX PAYING, citizens of Alberton voted for the DA in the last election, over 80% IIRC, but who's running Alberton [into the ground]? The cANCer! Because the [-]Election Rigging Board[/-] Municipal Demarcations Board decided that Alberton needs to be part to Ekukuleni, so it's TAX PAYING citizens can subsidise the leaches in Thokoza.

Democracy, my arse. We live in a dictatorship.

Eh.

Midvaal has soon played out its importance for the DA anyway. For 12 years it has been the their only outpost in inland South Africa, but that will change next local election when they win Tshwane and perhaps also Joburg.

The only thing I hope is that this doesn't happen until 2016, so that the new Mayor Baloyi at least gets to be in the position for a few years.

um...

Well from your lips to God's ears then.

lol, didn't mean to sound all prophetic. But I think the chance of DA clinching at least 1 metro next local election is pretty big.

Unless the ANC manage to rig the elections of course

Have you seen how the Thswane fat cats live? They will fight it dirty, like the last time where the nepotistic bastard went to Bronkies promised all the squatters houses in Pretoria if they voted for him. They are still waiting. But he will find some crap to feed them to keep them voting ANC. Stupid is as stupid does.

I think you underestimate the corrupt pool that is called the ANC.

Surprised they haven't tried to merge the Western Cape yet.

Oh, I am sure renewed suggestions about that will come up if they will fail (as they likely will) to win it back next year.

Municipalities to change after 2016: Board

The South African municipal landscape will change after the 2016 elections, the municipal demarcation board said on Tuesday.

"We have reached the final leg of this cycle and made the final determination of the cases that were before the board," chairman Lanbiwe Mahlangu told reporters in Pretoria.

"In reaching its final determinations, the board was by law expected, based on objections received, to either vary, confirm or withdraw on its decision on a particular case."

She said the board had published 167 cases and received almost 10,000 objections, most of them from Gauteng.

Among these was an objection to the merger of the Midvaal and Emfuleni local municipalities, and the Sedibeng district municipality, into a single metropolitan municipality.
