Migraine/Cluster headache

I suffer from from Cluster Headaches and have been chronic for almost 2 years. The monster attacks me at least 3 times a night. I take Migrex to bust and am on a whole regime of other meds. I wish I knew where to get shrooms from as they talk about them a lot on the Cluster website and seem to have helped hundreds of sufferers.

Your local drug dealer can help with shrooms and lsd which are both effective against cluster headaches.

Have you ever tried the pure oxygen method?

I found a hot towel wrapped over my head along with vast quantities of water works best.

Not for a cluster headache it won't. Nor migraines, really. It's a physiological thing and it won't penetrate the vascular system to have any meaningful affect on vascular dilation. Perhaps for headaches it helps with the perception aspect a little, but for migraines and cluster headaches I can't see how it could help. The pressure on the trigeminal nerve won't stop because of lower temperature blood flow on the forehead. Unless you're wrapping your entire head, in which case the added pressure won't help either.

Interesting tidbit, did you know that those suffering cluster headaches repeatedly report that they occur at the same time even in different time zones, meaning they are directly linked to the body's circadian rhythm, hence why preventative measures focus on the hypothalamus...

No idea why but it works.
Used to use pain killers but decided that is a path I am not willing to travel down again (besides, nothing actually worked).

Dark, quiet room with a very hot towel (think it thins the blood, not sure) wrapped around my head and a 2l bottle of water do the trick.
It does not stop the headache in it's tracks but it does stop the next headache from hitting so hard.

Probably not a cluster headache, although it might also be a correlation causation issue, as the dark and quiet will help. The viscosity of the blood near your trigeminal nerve won't change with a hot towel over your head. The body is a decent insulator and regulator in that respect. What might be happening is that your blood pressure decreases due to the relaxation which in turn lowers pressure on the trigeminal nerve, if it is a cluster headache.

Cluster headaches feel like someone has stabbed you in the eye or side of the head and are 99% only on one side of the head, and very concentrated in one spot. The pain is excruciating and you will not be mobile at all during a cluster. Most people I've heard claim to have cluster headaches have misdiagnosed themselves, and probably just had a migraine or very bad headache. A cluster headache feels different, because it literally feels like there is something in your head. It feels as if you have been stabbed and are about to die. It ain't called the suicide headache for no reason. Personally I would only ever wish it on my worst enemies...

Yep, my left eye, about 30 minutes on, 2 hours off, 20 minutes on, 1 hour off, 30 minutes on, 40 minutes off and so on (usually for 1 to 3 days).

My gm told me it's a cluster headache but I don't particularly trust doctors or chemists so it could be something else.

Is it the most excruciating pain you've ever experienced? If so, then yeah it sounds like a cluster headache.

I've suffered broken bones, operations, torn ligaments, dislocations, torn muscles etc and none of them hurt all that badly.

Cluster headaches on the other hand? They are the worst kind of pain imaginable. It's honestly rather break my leg again than have to suffer them...

seriously - i recommend you try topomax for these migraines. it controls the migraines. i have been on my topomax for 3 years now and only get severe headaches compared to the migraines. topolex is the copy of topomax and is cheaper.

Debilitating.

Like someone is shoving a needle into the back of my eye via my temple.

I had a migraine yesterday for first time in years. All the signs were there but I failed to take note. It started with bright visual aura followed by dizziness. By 4 am yesterday I started vomiting. It is the worst attack in years. If only I had taken note, I could have taken medication before the vomiting started. The pain was excruciating and felt like someone stuck hot pokers into my eyes. I can still feel AstroTurf's needle into back of eye ...

Yesterday was a complete non event in my life.

Cluster headaches are something else all together and a rather rare occurrence in fact. Take schrooms in small doses.

Migraines can be treated with regular intake of Trepeline prescribed by your doctor.

Over the counter Voltarin injections from the pharmacy are your best bet.

I use trepeline to make me sleepy and relax. Then maybe take something to relax the muscles and some headache tablets. Then lie down on a hot water bag, (electric ones).

Have you tried a benzo drug? They relax your body which may be a possible cause. You would to speak to your doctor and perhaps try something like bromazapan. Check 40 bucks for 30. Not saying it will work but it will relax your body.

Other than that i don't know of anything that will help, go to the migraine clinic because something that has been mentioned here should have helped.

From the Migraine clinic years ago all I got was a list of things not to eat, two pages long and a "welcome to the club" tag.

I thought I was having migraines often and then realised the everyday headaches were tension headaches. I can remember every single migraine I've ever had though. Makes you want to blow your brains out.

So the other day I experienced what I can only assume to be a cluster headache. I was in a plane and as we dropped in altitude to come and land I had an extremely sudden onset of the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. It basically felt like someone was stabbing me repeatedly in the eye with a very thick and rather blunt needle. I actually started puking from the pain at the airport while waiting for a connecting flight. After about 40min the stabbing sensation gave way and it felt like a had a burning coal lodged behind my eye/temple. It disappeared after about 2 hours. I was wondering if any of you experience these kind of headaches on a regular basis and what exactly you take to prevent/treat them. I've read that nasal decongestants might help, but would prefer to stock up on an arsenal of medication should I find myself in such a situation again. I would preferably never like to experience that again. I initially thought I was busy dying.

I've noticed some people suggest mushrooms/lsd, though that is probably not a feasible option on international flights.

I've heard Beta blockers also can help with the blood vessel spasms

Correct, I take Pur-Bloka 40 Mg three times a day to control my headaches and find it a fairly successful treatment.
There are some side effects - vivid dreaming, dry mouth and after-taste. But it's definitely worth it.
Beta Blockers are one of those cheap drugs that have a beneficial effect for almost all users.

So yesterday I had this excruciating suicide headache. I took some Tramacet but it did not help at all. Few hours later took 2 more. No relief. Tried to sleep but it wasn't getting better. I decided to go to hospital last night for an injection because at that time I was really losing it.

I had to wait about 45 minutes because the ER doctor was busy. By that time I was nearly passing out from pain. Eventually the doctor attended to me and I was given 3 injections. I was told to go home and get into bed because the injections were going to knock me out. Got home and into bed but couldn't sleep. Took me 2 hours to fall asleep. Headache is better today but it isn't gone.
